Talented & Versatile Horses

Horseback riding is the central activity at the Rocking Z. We are proud of our horses and know them all well. Through the use of Parelli Natural Horsemanship and personal experience, we have very talented and versatile horses for every level of rider. We take great care choosing the best partnership for horse and rider by considering each horse’s unique horsenality, and the rider’s ability and desires, enabling every rider to have a great horse experience!

All Levels of Riders

Our rides are spectacular, with a great variety to offer all levels of riders. You can have great long gallops, ascend to mountain vistas, follow mountain streams to old homesteads through cattle pasture or timber. We share much of the ground skills that we use with our horses to build a relationship of trust and respect to allow you and your horse to get to know one another. Then we alternate between scenic rides and Horsemanship skill-building via arena games, cattle work, obstacle course challenges.

Family, History & Hospitality

In addition to our wonderful horses and rides, we are a family ranch and pride ourselves in our history and hospitality. We have been on this land for 4 generations and are continually finding new and old ways to improve the land and ourselves. This is what we hope to share with you.

Welcome to Our Family

We enjoy sharing our beautiful Little Prickly Pear Creek and canyon, with all its fish, wildlife, and flowers. We welcome you to our family with all our loves, quirks, passions, and values, deeply rooted in our Christian tradition. We enjoy sharing our knowledge and experience while listening and being a part of yours. We endeavor to help all who find their way here to feel the peace and silence that land and natural beauty inspires.

Horses are our life here on the Rocking Z. Most activities revolve around horses. We also teach roping, archery, shooting, and driving a team. There is hiking, cycling, bird-watching, pool, and corn hole all available. There are always ranch chores happening, and you are welcome to chip in and experience a little bit of ranch work as you wish! In the evening there are always board games and cards also available. We also have fishing available, and Little Prickly Pear Creek is a blue-ribbon fly fishing stream.
