Mythic Beauty of the Old West
Four generations ago each guest arrived here at Covered Wagon Ranch by way of stagecoach and Model T. Today descendants of some of those families still come to our Montana dude ranch to experience the mythic beauty of the Old West, in a region that is very nearly the same as it was in 1925 when the guest ranch first opened. Ours is one of the oldest continuously operating guest ranches in this canyon. Here you’ll stay in historic log cabins with their original 1920’s charm, complete with wood-burning stoves, rustic wood furniture, and private baths. You’ll enjoy great meals and pampered attention from ranch hosts who are happy to cater to your every need. So treasured is this Montana guest ranch that it’s become a tradition among families, individuals, and couples over the years ~ in fact, most of our guests are return visitors or their friends and family members. We offer a unique horseback riding vacation.
What makes us different than so many other ranches is that there isn’t a set schedule. This is YOUR vacation so YOU tell us what you want to do every day. Riding is our specialty, but we have lots of activities for the non-riders too! We offer great advanced riding opportunities and all-day rides!

Dining at our Montana guest ranch is a family affair and is often the social highlight of the day. Covered Wagon Ranch is different in that all of us (owners and staff) eat with our guests! This means you can reminisce with your favorite wrangler about your ride that day or talk amongst each staff member at the ranch, as you become part of our ranch family. During your stay, you will enjoy a scrumptious Montana dining experience at each meal. Breakfast and lunch are to order as with dinner it is family-style.

While staying true to our Montana dude ranch’s 1920’s vintage heritage, we’re also committed to making your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as it can be. Over the years, our ranch has retained every bit of its original charm but has gradually gained the sweet refinement and gentility that comes only to a place devoted for over four generations to providing rugged, yet luxurious dude ranch lodging for its guests’ comfort and pleasure.

Cancellation Policy
If a reservation of fewer than 10 people is canceled prior to January 1st, your deposit will be refunded less a $500.00 cancellation/processing fee. If a reservation of more than 10 people is canceled prior to January 1st, your deposit will be refunded less a $1,000.00 cancellation/processing fee. If any reservation is canceled after January 1st your deposit is non-refundable. If any reservation is canceled by April 1st you will have the option to credit your deposit to the following year with a $500 processing/reservation change fee. If canceled 2nd time for any reason no refund will be given. Rates will be updated to the current year no specials are transferred over. If a reservation is canceled for any reason within thirty days of your stay payment in full is required and will be charged in full to your card. Any changes you make to your reservation after booking that result in your balance being lowered a charge of $200 will be added to your bill (for example lowering numbers in party checking out early). If you cancel a cabin altogether from your reservation (for example you have two cabins reserved and cancel one) a fee of $1,000 will be charged. Parties of 10 or more-Balance is due 60 days prior to your stay. If a check is returned, there will be a $200 fee on top of the bank fees, and unable to make future reservations. Due to unexpected situations that result in our ranch being shut down, such as a forest fire all money received will be transferred to the following year and rates updated to that following year. No specialty rates are transferred over. Absolutely no refunds due to inclement weather-rain, snow, smoke, wind etc. Corona Virus- Anyone that is concerned about Covid-19 and the ranch, we would be happy to chat with you about what we have implemented at our ranch to try and keep everyone as safe as possible. At this time no refunds will be given due to Covid-19. Our regular cancellation policy is in full effect. Please purchase travel insurance if you are concerned.
