The Nine Quarter Circle is far away in the sense of both place and time. We are a Montana dude ranch that looks and operates just as it did 100 years ago. Owned by Kameron and Sally Kelsey, the ranch is nearing its 75th year of Kelsey ownership and is steeped in tradition and family values. Its rhythm is marked by generations of horses born, raised, and trained here and of generations of families returning again and again. Nestled in a small mountain valley nearby Yellowstone National Park, our ranch is a unique landscape full of native flora and fauna. You might see grizzly bears, moose, elk, and other native species when hiking or riding around the ranch. Between our 2-two hour rides offered each day, our two all-day rides each week, and our overnight pack trip, there is a horseback riding adventure for all abilities. You can ride 360 degrees from the ranch without ever needing to trailer the horses, and there is terrain to explore for all ability levels. The Taylor Fork River runs through the ranch property and the Gallatin River is just a few miles down the road. These streams provide opportunities for beginners and experienced fly fishermen and women. Our children’s program (ages 0-5) and Rough Riders program (age 6-9) offer supervised adventure for the youngest ones in your family so the parents can enjoy time in the saddle, with a fly rod in hand, or a drink during happy hour. For an authentic Montana Dude Ranch experience, this is your place.
We offer nightly activities that are fun for the whole family! Activities include a nightly happy hour, softball game, campfire with s’mores, dinner ride, and a square dance.

Special Events
Not only do we serve delish meals, we also create community during our dining experience. Guests are designated a seat each meal in an effort to allow all guests to interact with each other. Our breakfasts are made to order and offer a variety of rotating pastries and specialty items. Coffee is available all day long.
Our lunches are served family style and include a variety of sandwiches, soups and salads.
Our adult dinner is a plated meal with featured dishes like prime rib, salmon, and pork tenderloin. Each meal is served with freshly baked breads and desserts. We have a children’s dinner served during happy hour so that the adults can enjoy adult conversation across the diner tables while the children play nearby.
Food Options
Our cabins are of log construction built in the true Montana style. Each one is unique and is graced by homemade furniture and quilts made right here on the ranch. The cabins have private baths, most with tub/shower combinations, and range from single- bedroom cabins up to three- or four- bedroom cabins to accommodate larger family groups. Most are heated with both wood stoves and cadet heaters.

To make a reservation, Nine Quarter Circle Ranch, Inc. (“NQCR”) requires a 20% deposit of the base rate. Deposits are non-refundable. Deposits may be transferred to the following year if NQCR is notified in writing sixty (60) days prior to your confirmed stay that you wish to make such a change in your reservation. Deposits may only be transferred 1 time and rebooked reservations are subject to the rate of the year the visit takes place. Transfer of deposit is subject to availability and to the reasonable discretion of NQCR. Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable for any cancellation made less than sixty (60) days prior to date of your scheduled arrival. Credits will not be allowed for shortened stays, deleted rooms, or absences during your stay.
Due to the limited number of accommodations available and the distance of the ranch from population centers, it is impossible to fill vacancies on short notice. As such, we cannot absorb cancellations during the sixty (60) days prior to your scheduled arrival, nor refund deposits, irrespective of the reason a guest needs to cancel, whether it is illness, travel difficulties, family emergency, or any other cause. For that reason, we strongly encourage the purchase of “cancel for any reason” travel insurance (including medical and evacuation insurance). This insurance typically covers any costs incurred by you as a result of cancellation of your trip, whether due to your circumstances, or NQCR’s. Cancellations must be documented in writing, sent to info@ninequartercircle.com.
If NQCR cancels a reservation for any reason reasonably within its control, a full refund of the reservation will be given. However, in such cases NQCR will not be responsible for any additional costs incurred, such as airline tickets, hotel rooms, equipment, medical expenses, etc.
In the event that NQCR must cancel a reservation as a result of an occurrence of force majeure, including acts of God; fire; flood; explosion; extraordinary and destructive weather conditions directly affecting NQCR’s ability to safely provide lodging or activities; acts, laws, orders or restraint of government; pandemic or outbreaks of sickness or disease; terrorism, war, sabotage or vandalism; accident, civil disorder or riots within the NQCR’s operating areas or directly affecting NQCR’s performance; or any other circumstances beyond NQCR’s control, no refunds will be provided.
If cancellation occurs sixty (60) days or less from the date of your scheduled arrival, you are responsible for the full balance owed for your booked stay.
