Dude Ranch FAQs
Absolutely nothing! The terms are interchangeable.
DRA member ranches go through a rigorous application process in which the DRA determines if the ranch meets the highest standards of the dude ranching industry. All member ranches are all-inclusive (i.e. meals, lodging, most activities) and exemplify the Western ranch ideal of personal, homelike hospitality, and atmosphere.
What state and time of year are you wanting to visit? Are there any activities besides horseback riding that you’d like to have available? Narrow down your options by using our filtering system on our find a ranch page or contact a DRA vacation specialist today!
We recommend visiting the northern ranches between June and the beginning of October to enjoy the best weather conditions and the southwestern ranches from October through May.
All of our ranches do require a 3-7 night minimum stay. However, this may vary depending on the time of year. We always suggest staying a week so that you have the opportunity to take part in all of the activities offered!
Some ranches are pet friendly, however, policies vary depending on the ranch. To view pet-friendly ranches, please visit our find a ranch page and select “Pet Friendly” under the “Amenities” section.
Some ranches do allow you to bring your own horse! Please inquire with the ranches directly about their individual policies. To view ranches that may allow you to bring your own horse, please visit our find a ranch page and select “Bring My Own Horse” under the “Lodging and Amenities” section.
