Whether you’re a seasoned rider or a city dweller longing for a taste of the cowboy lifestyle, our ranch offers a curated blend of hands-on cattle work, trail rides, and farm-to-table dining experiences fit for a Cattle Baron. As a meticulously restored Wyoming homestead, with casual western luxury, walk in the footsteps of those who shaped the American West, with landmarks and artifacts that tell stories of resilience, conflict, and the indomitable spirit of the cowboy.
The TA Ranch is a working cattle ranch practicing sustainable agriculture on Wyoming’s most historic and beautifully preserved 1880s homestead. Showcasing our agricultural heritage, ranch activities center around some of our agricultural functions including tending to the farm. Guests learn about bee pollination and honey refinement as well as assist with herb gardens, chickens, ducks and goats to understand how anyone can be a food rebel and live like a modern homesteader.
The ranch offers many types of trail riding across 8,000 acres of untamed badlands. Trails follow in the footsteps of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid as well as Crows Indians that stalked the Bozeman trail. The ranch also has specialty weeks for cattle drives but offers cattle work and horsemanship clinics regularly. Horse training demonstrations are a primary feature with expert trainers showcasing how the modern cowboy trains colts to finished products from ranch work to the show ring.
As a living history museum, the ranch provides Johnson County War history tours tell the amazing stories of the people who made the American West as well as touch on the problems within cattle ranching between the struggle of big business versus niche ranchers. Private and guided fishing are main staples as well on the ranch. Guests can fish in Crazy Woman creek as well as the privately stocked reservoir.
