Spotted Horse Ranch is a family-owned ranch that has been operating as a dude ranch for over 50 years! Over the course of those 50 years, we believe that we have perfected the balance of providing ample activities as well as plenty of time to simply kick back, relax, and spend time with your family or friends.
During the months of June, July, and August, we are a very family-oriented ranch that provides a variety of activities to appeal to each age group.
As we move into September and October, we tend to host more adult guests and the ranch eases into a quieter, more relaxed atmosphere.
With a max capacity of about 34 guests, we pride ourselves on being able to customize our guests’ rides to match riding abilities and to provide a more intimate, family-like setting. Both our guests, and our staff, come from all over the country, and part of the fun of being here is getting to know each other during your stay; it is not unusual for family or friend groups to merge, and blur the lines of who came with who.
The magic of Spotted Horse Ranch is palpable from the moment that you step onto our property and get your first glimpse of the main lodge, set right on the banks of the Hoback River. This river provides wonderful fishing opportunities, as well as gorgeous views during happy hour. From horseback riding and fishing to rodeos and rafting, we aim to provide an all-inclusive experience that gives you a genuine taste of all things Wyoming!
The primary activities on the ranch are horseback riding and fly fishing, although we do include several other activities, as well. Our horseback rides take you into the Gros Ventre Wilderness and Bridger Teton National Forest where you can expect to encounter wildlife such as deer, foxes, and bald eagles; incredible vistas from various vantage points; and a variety of terrain to ride through including pine forests, aspen groves, large meadows, and sage brush flats. You can also fly fish right here at the ranch on the Hoback River, or opt to go out for a guided fishing trip on the Snake, Salt, or Green Rivers. Whatever you decide, our Monday afternoon casting lessons will be definitely help you to become a great fly fisherman! In addition to these activities, we also go the Jackson Hole rodeo on Wednesday evening, take a soak in hot springs on Thursdays, go on a rafting trip on Thursdays, and have two nights of live music here at the ranch. We also offer an all day lunch ride on Tuesdays where you head up to Elk Ridge and have a lunch of burgers and hot dogs grilled on an open fire. With all these activities, you may find yourself wanting to just kick back and relax on the lodge’s deck with a good book and a glass of wine, taking in the surreal view of Beaver Mountain and the Hoback River.

Special Events
Since we are one big family, and part of the fun is getting to know the other guests, we serve our meals family-style. We have three long dining room tables where guests can seat themselves, and we will provide platters of food to each table. Each dish is passed from guest to guest, and you simply take however much you would like and whatever you would like. As you enjoy your meal, you get to gaze out at the Hoback River through our floor to ceiling windows. Prior to dinner, we serve appetizers on the back deck and have daily happy hours from 5 – 7 pm. After dinner, you are welcome to return to the saloon or back deck to soak up some more views and enjoy a nightcap. **If COVID persists, we will continue to serve plated, individual meals, rather than family-style meals.
Food Options
All lodging options on the ranch are stand-alone cabins, ranging in size from one bedroom with one bathroom to a three bedroom cabin with two bathrooms and a living area. While we would not label our cabins as “luxurious,” they are comfortable and cozy, with a rustic Western decor. All of our cabins have a front porch or outdoor sitting area where you can kick back after a long day of riding to soak in the views. Our one bedroom cabins sit on the banks of the Hoback River and have impeccable views of the river and the horse corral. Our two bedroom cabins face out towards the front lawn, which is backed by ‘Fridge Ridge.’ This is the perfect spot for parents to relax as their kids play on the spacious lawn. All cabins come with high quality sheets and down comforters for those chilly nights. We have never had the need for AC in the cabins as it cools down quite a bit at night, even during the summer months, but all cabins do have heating systems.
