Come RIDE with us!

McGinnis Meadows Cattle & Guest Ranch is an authentic working cattle ranch located in the northwest corner of Montana.

Glacier National Park

We are only 100 miles west of Glacier National Park with our main emphasis on Buck Brannaman style horsemanship and our cattle program.

Horses for Working Cattle

You’ll experience horses that are comfortable working cattle, or just leisurely heading out and exploring country.

Beginner Riders

Beginner riders to experienced riders leave here with more knowledge about horses, horsemanship, and cattle, than they’ve experienced anywhere else.

Gentle, Hard Working Horses

We take great pride in our horses as they are all very gentle, hard working geldings that can do anything you point them at; be it driving cattle, trail riding or working on the finer art of Buck Brannaman style horsemanship, they can do it all!

Small Groups

With approximately 15 guests per week, we can better know you, work with you individually, and tailor each day to you. It’s exciting for us to see how much you progress in the week.

We Love This Way of Life

McGinnis Meadows Ranch is made up of people who love this way of life. You will find “more” here, from the care put into our lodging and meals, to the care of our horses, fine custom tack, and excellent facilities. “More” in the sincerity of our staff as well as the owner, Shayne Jackson, and “more” in what you find in yourself, and what you can do.

Well-Rounded Horseback Riding Program

You will experience a well-rounded horseback riding program centered on what these horses can do with cattle, and will leave here a better rider wanting “more.”

Some tell us this is heaven, “No, it’s just paradise.”

Starting in Mid April our ten-day working ranch experience runs through December. During April/May you can really focus on improving your riding ability and communication with the horse. In May, cattle work also begins in earnest- we begin to work on cutting, sorting, and weighing our yearling steers and in June we will be moving cattle frequently on over 15,000 acres, until the beginning of October. So if you want to work cattle, you can definitely do that here!
We also have a Special Event ten-day Women’s Adventure happening here at the ranch. This stay, for women only will offer our traditional horsemanship opportunities, plus lots of other fun activities, taught by women! You can find more info on our website or contact us for more information.
At McGinnis Meadows, all levels of riders are welcome, novice to advanced. Children must be 12 and over to ride. We do not offer any organized children’s activities/programs. Please note that we have a 220 lb. maximum weight limit for riders For the comfort and safety of our horses we cannot make exceptions to this.
You’ll experience the best of both worlds here! Enjoy the heartiest of meals and first-class lodging!
During the summer months, we have a beautiful lake just a short drive away where guests can swim, kayak, and stand up paddleboard. Hiking trails also abound on the ranch or off. If fly fishing is on your to-do list, we work closely with a local guide who can take you to the best spots around. And if you have a competitive side, you can check out our game room with a pool table, ping pong, and air hockey, or head outside for a game of horseshoes!
