Hunewill Guest Ranch is located north of Yosemite National Park in the green, mountainous Bridgeport Valley of California. The Hunewill Ranch is a family-owned and operated outfit where great horseback riding is the featured attraction. You’ll love riding your horse through cool lush meadows bordered by timbered peaks.
Hunewill offers you a full ranch experience, including evening activities such as talent night, family dance night, barbecues on the creek, or watching as young foals and yearlings are being gentled. There is world-class trout fishing in the nearby East Walker River, and in the many lakes and streams in the adjacent Toiyabe National Forest. Home-style meals are served in the dining room of the founder’s Victorian ranch house. You’ll stay in comfortable cottages near the horse pasture; allowing you to watch the horses come thundering in early each morning.
The Hunewill Ranch was founded in 1861 by Napoleon Bonaparte Hunewill and his wife Esther. LeNore and Stanley Hunewill started the Hunewill Guest Ranch in the 1930s. The ranch is home to 1200 head of cattle, 180 horses, as well as an assortment of llamas, goats, and sheep. Guests can participate in traditional ranch cattle work activities. There are several special cattle events that are featured during the year, such as spring and fall cattle work packages, The Big Fall Cattle Gather, and our traditional Fall Cattle Drive to the winter ranch in Nevada.
For a vacation experience suited to families, singles, or couples, you won’t find a friendlier place. If you want home-style meals, cozy cabins, wide-open space, great riding, and lasting friendships, then Hunewill Guest Ranch is the vacation for you.
