Banks of the North Platte River

Along the banks of the North Platte River, in the heart of southern Wyoming’s Medicine Bow Mountains, lies the A Bar A Guest Ranch.

Established in 1926

Established in 1926, it is one of the oldest guest ranches in the country. It is also one of the largest: nearly 100,000 acres for guests and staff to explore, in addition to the National Forest and Wilderness Area that surrounds us.

Activities for Diverse Interests

Horseback riding, fly fishing, and hiking are primary draws, but we also have tennis, golf, skeet, trap, sporting clays, a heated swimming pool, excellent meals, and first-class children’s and teen’s programs. A Bar A offers many activities that will match families that may have diverse interests.

Easy Travel

Travel to the A Bar A is easy, fly into our private 5700 foot paved airstrip (on the property), Cheyenne, Wyoming (2.2 hours), or Denver Colorado (3.75 hours).

Return Guests & Reservations

Our return rate is 92% and we recommend that guests submit reservation requests prior to October 1st for the following summer. Our reservation request form can be found at: https://www.abararanch.com/reservations/. Of course, it never hurts to call later in the year, as spaces do sometimes become available then. We recommend a phone call to help work out details and so we can work with you to determine if the A Bar A is the best fit for you. We are always glad to help.

Guests explore hundreds of miles of riding trails, from relaxed family rides for beginners, to challenging trails for experts. The A Bar A Ranch offers the rare opportunity for self-guided riding, along with rides guided by experienced wranglers. Beginning anglers and expert fly-fishermen challenge themselves on the North Platte River and its tributaries–just steps from your door. Friendships formed at the ranch endure across the miles and through the years.
