The Retreat at Silvies Valley Ranch, founded in 1883, is a working cattle ranch and luxury guest ranch. In many ways, it sets the standard for sustainable ranching and living in the high desert, with all cuisine centered around the ranch’s own organic, pasture to table, grass finished beef and chevon (goat).

Keeping with its environmental ethic, the clubhouse and cabins are completely off the grid, with stand-alone solar and gray water systems, insect control from the residents of over 5,000 bird and bat houses, and a predominately gravity-powered irrigation and water system. Made up of 150,000 acres of deeded and leased forest lands in the surrounding Silvies Valley, the Retreat is beautiful and home to countless wildlife species, mountain meadows, Ponderosa Pine forests, over 20 miles of the Silvies River, 12 creeks and streams, and 5 lakes surrounding the lodging and accommodations.
