Update from Casey!

"It was another great week for Tulsa, although we didn't get many photos or videos of her out working, she did get to meet some new friends from Triangle X Ranch (videos from Lucas and Ane coming to visit)! Tulsa went to gather more cattle in Wyoming this week and handled new environments like the champion she is! She is learning to engage her front end well, and her neck reining is getting better and better each time she is ridden. She got to experience riding through some tough Wyoming winds 💨 with my chinks flapping all over the place and tumbleweeds and dirt blowing all around her, nothing phased her! Her demeanor is so calm and sweet, and she continues to impress me. Anyone who has the opportunity to take this mare home and continue her career is going to be very lucky, so be sure to buy your tickets!"

Update on Tulsa from Casey -
Tulsa🐴 has shown amazing calmness while also paid attention while being thrown into many different situations I know she has never seen. Motorcycles being driven all around her and literally right up behind her, rabbits, sage grouse, and snakes underneath her, and gathering yearlings which can be a constant challenge of chaos – nothing has bothered her! Tulsa has never offered to buck and with cold chilly mornings, constant change of riding away from other horses, and me asking her to navigate obstacles while in motion she has handled everything with grace and confidence. She has been easy to catch, loads without hesitation, and stands to get on. I am so impressed with this mare’s demeanor and know she is going to make a fantastic horse wherever she goes!

Let's get to know Tulsa's trainer!
Casey Albright is a 3rd Generation cowboy, farrier and horse trainer by trade. Casey was truly raised on the back of the horse and always jokes that “as kids, we never got to ride the good, broke horses, those were for selling or leasing, we rode the colts!”. This has definitely made Casey the cowboy and horse trainer he is today. As a farrier he understands the importance of horses being taken care of from top to bottom and that if a horse trusts you and feels good, there is nothing they cannot do.
Casey does not follow one specific horsemanship method. He uses methods from many different trainers and horsemen he has learned from throughout his life, and applies those methods from halter breaking, to groundwork, to putting one under saddle and everything in between.
Casey has trained countless horses for many different styles of riding. He has produced some incredible ranch horses, dude horses, team roping horses and as he would say “cowboy horses”. He has a true passion and love for horses and teaching them to utilize their skills and perform to the best of their abilities. The DRA is grateful to have Casey continuing training on our raffle horse Tulsa this year and we are excited to see all the two of them do together leading up to January!

Tulsa Update!
She got her first set of shoes this week and is ready to start riding the range of Wyoming! She is wearing a size 2 shoe in the front and size 1 in the back. That hopefully gives you a good idea of how big and stout this horse is! Casey has been very impressed with this mare and her easy-going demeanor. Not much seems to bother her, and she is learning everything in stride. We will continue to post updates on this page, so be sure to follow along!
