Fishing and Family Ranch Vacations

Fishing is undoubtedly one of the most enjoyable ways to spend your time while practicing the Art of Relaxation. It helps to clear your mind, but it also provides you with something on which you can focus. And it only becomes more enjoyable when you take your kids along with you.

Family vacations offer one of the best opportunities to introduce your child to fishing, and several of the dude ranch locations offer the perfect place to do so. Although the types of fish living on or near these ranches vary from one location to the next, most ranches will harbor at least one species that is a great target for young anglers.

But, understand that kids rarely enjoy sitting on a dock all day, staring at a bobber – they want to catch fish. So, it is important to be successful on this initial fishing trip to ensure that your child comes away smiling. Fortunately, Outdoor Empire put together a comprehensive plan for fishing with your kids, that’ll help you maximize your chances of having a successful afternoon on the water.

Why not start your kiddo out fishing at one of these amazing DRA Dude Ranches:

Lone Mountain Ranch Hosts Family with the Jack & Jill Foundation

"The best part of memories is making them" - Jon Albert, Founder of the Jack & Jill Foundation The Dude Ranchers' Association and the Jack and Jill Late Stage Cancer Foundation shares a partnership, connecting families to ranches across the West. Please take a look at the video below to see how a ranch vacation at Lone Mountain Ranch was a great way to spend final moments with loved ones. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TnA01aFJi68 If you would like to know more about the Jack & Jill Late Stage Cancer Foundation and how you can get involved, please contact Jon Albert at jalbert@jajf.org, 404.537.5253 or Colleen Hodson at colleen@duderanch.org, 307.587.2339

About the Jack & Jill Foundation

JAJF has become exceptionally—even profoundly important because of the lives we are ALL truly impacting across the United States. When a parent is diagnosed with late-stage cancer, a family’s world is immediately turned upside down. Our supporters appreciate these children who are facing the imminent loss of their Moms and or Dads deserve a timeout from cancer to create cherished, lasting (indispensable) memories as a family… while they can. For JAJF to be “prescribed” by Oncologists across the United States as part of the treatment process and protocol is extraordinary. JAJF has now treated families from 44 states. Sadly, it is just too easy for us to find young Moms and Dads in their 20’s, 30’s and 40’s dying from cancer (despite the advances in research) leaving behind their children. We gain our families strictly from Oncologist referrals. See the JAJF Family Photo Gallery and enjoy a few of the thousands of family photos. There is no cancer in these images. Smile as you see the smiles and happy moments each JAJF family enjoyed on their WOW! Experience. Smile knowing your support provides directly for families to create lasting, cherished memories together… while they can. Dads and Moms passed away knowing their children will always have the fun, positive memories as their greatest inheritance. Thank you for helping JAJF be the only organization in the country: Treating the families; not the cancer®. The White Stallion Ranch, Colorado Trails Ranch and Tanque Verde Ranch have also hosted families with the Jack & Jill Foundation.
